What a day!
Today I went to a traditional barbershop to have my hair cut. While I was waiting in line, an elderly gentleman struck up a conversation with me.
"Hey, where are you from?" he asked me.
"I'm from Justin. I have a house in the city," I answered.
"I mean, where are you originally from?" he said, stressing the word "originally."
"I am from China originally, and I've lived here since 2019. So where are you from? Where's your hometown? "
"My hometown is Lowell, thirty miles away from Justin, but I've been in the area for almost 35 years, ever since I married my wife, Ann. What do you think about this country? It's a great country, huh?
"Yeah, a great country and a fantastic country. This morning, my neighbor hung a new banner above his garage door: the banner says: Trump 2033! Please forgive me for being a Trump voter! To my knowledge, the American presidency is limited to two terms. Am I right?"
"Yes, two terms. But look at what Joe Biden did — he almost destroyed the country. Have you seen the gasoline price? $5.99 a gallon — insane!" he said resentfully.
"Excuse me, it's already Trump's presidency! Joe Biden left the office more than two years ago. You shouldn't blame Joe Biden for the current gas price."
"The fault lies with Joe Biden and his evil party. The high gas prices are because of the mess he left behind. Trump inherited the mess and now he's cleaning it up along the way. Thirty years ago, we only had two genders, female and male. Now we have more than 190. This is all because of Joe Biden, Obama and their Democratic Party."
"It's my turn for a haircut. Thank you for sharing your views, " I replied respectfully and left him there muttering about Joe Biden.
